Tech Savvy Elders Are on the Go

There's a buzz and excitement building around an upcoming road show featuring Tech Savvy Elders as part of NSW Seniors Week celebrations.

The road show, Tech Savvy Seniors, is delivering the Tech Savvy Elders program with the support of Momentum Cloud, Telstra, the NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group and the NSW Department of Family and Community Services.

NSW Seniors Week marks a time of year when the NSW Government thanks all NSW seniors for their contributions and achievements. With the number of seniors in NSW rapidly growing, festivals such as Seniors Week encourage the senior community to continue to lead active lives, stay socially connected, and engage in new activities. Seniors Week also allows the rest of us to appreciate and acknowledge the wealth of wisdom and breadth of life experience that seniors have to share with younger generations.

The Tech Savvy Elders program will be launched at the National Centre for Indigenous Excellence on 31 March 2016. As part of the program, a trainer will work with local schools to support Elders to learn about technology and tablet devices. Training days will be held at number of locations where Elders will be supported by students to use tablets devices to record their stories.

The program will be facilitated with a specifically branded Tech Savvy Seniors bus. The bus will be used to transport seniors to and from training locations along with other promotional activities along selected routes.
