Leading the Way in Support of Aboriginal Education

The NSW Department of Education is making available seed grants to schools in support of the Public Schools NSW Strategic Directions for Schools.

Seed grants are assisting schools to engage with their local community and their local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG). Schools are using grant funding to establish an MGoals community site and to assist with the implementation of the MGoals online goal setting tool for their students.

The MGoals initiative is a free program that supports Aboriginal culture and education by providing local Aboriginal communities and schools with an online website building project and an online learning environment where students create their goals for living and learning.

More and more schools now are collaborating with their local Aboriginal community around the stories they would like to share in support of Aboriginal education and culture.

The distribution of the seed funding by the Department of Education provides further impetus to continue the great work being done by schools to engage with the MGoals initiative. The acknowledgement of the MGoals initiative in this way bolsters the efforts of the Burraga Foundation, the NSW AECG, the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, and Momentum Cloud to work on engaging and innovative ways to improve educational outcomes for Aboriginal students.
